Hello,

My name is Dave, and I keep and breed from a score, or so, of rather pampered beehives who live in lush and peaceful Carmarthenshire. Welcome to our Quarry Bees website which exists to share our love of bees and, in season, to promote our delicious honey. Profits from selling our honey largely get reinvested in the health and welfare of our colonies – who, like most of our indigenous wildlife, are having an increasingly hard time adapting to climate change. Or, you could say, we keep bees as a labour of love that, in an average year, pays for itself.

If you are interested in taking up beekeeping, I can assure you that it is a fascinating form of animal husbandry and a superb hobby. I’d unreservedly recommend it to anyone with the interest, and space, and, importantly, time to do a beginners course first. From self-interest, I’d recommend the beginner’s Practical Beekeeping Course run by the National Botanic Garden of Wales (which I normally help to run), but you will probably find that your local Beekeeper’s Association runs an exemplary one in your local area. A word of caution though, it’s addictive. What started for me as a hobby in 2014, now takes up more of my time every year, not that I regret it.

However, if you came here searching for a the best in raw honey, we’d love you to sample ours and you can buy it from our store above. It is extraordinarily good as our reviews will confirm. We can even tell you where on the map it originated, what DNA analysis says about its floral origins, and what pukka laboratory testing told us about potential medicinal value. Supermarket ‘honey’, with its frequently dubious provenance, likely won’t do that. But, if we’re out of stock, and it happens earlier every year, please take our advice and get to know your friendly neighbourhood beekeeper. You can always buy from us next time, we’ll be here. Remember, by supporting local you can make a real difference.

Reaching out, if you have ANY general questions about our bees, practices or products or just want to say hello, we’d love to hear from you. If you’re so inclined, you’ll find us on various Social Media as @Quarrybees, or you can get in touch via the “Contacts & Socials” tab above.

 Very Best Wishes
