Homesian beekeeping. It’s well known that author Arthur Conan Doyle had a love/hate relationship with his greatest creation, the Consulting Detective, Sherlock Holmes. After trying to kill-off Holmes in a fall over the Reichenbach Falls, the public outcry was such that he had to resurrect him for further adventures. In 1903 however, Doyle, finally retired Holmes, (then supposedly aged 49,) to become a Beekeeper on the Sussex Downs. Holmes did return twice more to aid the nation in the run up to WW1, but presumably found beekeeping quite complex enough? Making sense of a hive requires you to eliminate the impossible to ascertain the truth of what you see. Elementary really.
