Our Quarry Field Apiary is a special place. It’s a secluded, bluebell strewn, coppice on family farmland near the market town of Carmarthen in West Wales. There, from Spring through to Autumn, a contented buzz fills the air and our bees thrive. When we considered a name that embodied the obvious virtues of our delicious honey, Gwenyn Maes Chwarel, (which translates as The Quarry Field Bees), was an obvious choice (as were the bluebells that you’ll find, themed, in our logo).
To provide jars of “Gold from the Quarry”, we make no compromises. We apply modern standards to slower, time served, methods of honey extraction. And, by being a little more patient, we retain our honey’s authenticity, health benefits, and flavour. Hopefully we’ve piqued your interest. We are extremely proud of our honey, and the word is getting out. We’d encourage you to try it. You can purchase from this website directly. Just don’t wait too long, we describe it as “small batch” for a very good reason. When all is said and done, health giving raw honey is one of the most exclusive of ‘slow food’ options and a real privilege of nature. Its up there with truffles and great wine. We describe ours as ‘a gift from the Quarry Bees’, because when each harvest has been enjoyed, it’s up to them to make more in their own good time.
